The list that changed my life by Olivia Beirne
The story revolves around Georgia – a somewhat boring girl in her mid 20s. She has her routine which she follows and doesn’t care about doing new things in her life or take risks. She loves being in her comfort zone. Until her older sister Amy is diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis(MS), Georgia loves Amy dearly and when Amy gives her a list of tasks to fulfil before her birthday, Georgia feels like she should do this for her sister as she cant herself.
The Book Highlights the impact MS can have on day to day life and how one day you could be fine and the next unable to function.
The list itself I felt could have been a little more adventurous. There were some very basic things on there like making a Victoria sponge which i feel could have been replaced with something more interesting.
I also found that Georgia’s character was not very appealing because of the fact that she was doing the list just because she had to and didn’t want to let Amy down. She didn’t look at the list as an opportunity to experience life differently she literally used it as a task list to be ticked off.
The character of Jack who is Georgia’s love interest in the book is a breath of fresh air. He proves to be a big help to Georgia in getting the list done and is a lovely character overall.
Overall it was a feel good book and ticks a lot of boxes both plot and character wise.
